Stabbing Suspect Shot, Killed By Deputies In Altadena

ALTADENA (CBSLA) — A knife-wielding suspect was shot and killed by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in Altadena on Sunday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed a woman.

Deputies were patrolling the area at around 4 p.m. when they were flagged down in the 2400 block of Figueroa Drive by a witness who reported that a man had stabbed a woman nearby.

When deputies came upon the suspect, he charged at them with a knife, prompting them to open fire on him, the sheriff’s department said.

He died at the scene. He was not immediately identified.

The woman was taken to a hospital with stab wounds to her upper back. Her condition was not confirmed.

The exact circumstances that lead up to the stabbing and later the shooting are under investigation. It’s unclear how many deputies opened fire.
