Los Angeles boasts nearly perfect weather year-round, so of course we like to enjoy our meals al fresco. Catching a sunset from a rooftop is practically a rite of passage and what better way to do it than over a bowl of cacio e pepe and a bottle of pinot noir with friends? Fortunately, there are multiple excellent eateries with gorgeous views to choose from. From DTLA to Santa Monica, here are the nine best rooftop restaurants in Los Angeles to enjoy alfresco dining, just in time for summer.

1. Merois

The buzzy new restaurant helmed by renowned chef Wolfgang Puck is as sexy as it is delicious. With his highly anticipated return to the Sunset Strip, the culinary icon created one of his classic fusion menus with a heavy slant towards seafood but don’t overlook dishes like the Japanese A5 Strip that just melts in your mouth. Merois is located at the Pendry West Hollywood, adjacent to the hotel’s chic rooftop pool. Indoor seating includes velvet pink and navy-colored booths that face the twinkling lights of the city skyline with limited outdoor seating also available. Wolfgang Puck’s son and protégé, Byron, can be seen running around managing both Merois and Ospero, Puck’s more casual concept serving his signature wood-fired pizzas.

2. Calabra

Calabra is a chic indoor and outdoor restaurant and lounge on the rooftop of the Santa Monica Proper Hotel serving elevated Mediterranean dishes with a California flair. The 1920’s-inspired hotel is designed by world renowned interior designer, Kelly Wearstler. Every corner of the hotel looks like a Pinterest board for your future living room decor. Relax on the rooftop and sip on cocktails or a healthy pressed green juice and order the Calabra meze board, an assortment of dips like hummus, labneh, avocado; feta cheese and olives which might as well be a full meal. But if you’re still hungry, try the branzino, or lamb chops with a side of the Calabra fries seasoned with za’atar.
