The Notorious B.I.G.’s Daughter Opens a NY-Style Pizza Place in Los Angeles

Los Angeles has no shortage of quality pizza restaurants to choose from, be they Neapolitan-style sit-down spots, classic California favorites for late-night bites, or new square-shaped pan versions served exclusively on Instagram. But what the city doesn’t have (yet) is a New York City-style pizza joint from the daughters of Biggie Smalls and Jam Master Jay. Now, improbably enough, that’s about to change.

The new Juicy Pizza is shaping up to be a collaboration for the ages, pairing Tyra Myricks (daughter of the late Jam Master Jay, of Run-D.M.C. fame) with Tyanna Wallace, daughter of the late Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, aka The Notorious B.I.G. The pair have been friends for some time, Myricks told Business Insider last month; both stay busy with a variety of projects, including their own fashion lines, but wanted to collaborate to give Los Angeles some of the New York City-style pizza they felt was missing. “The more I thought about how to bring that New York theme to Los Angeles, I felt, who represents New York more than Biggie Smalls?,” Myricks told Business Insider.

As for the restaurant itself, the new Juicy Pizza will open at 615 N. La Brea in the former Pizza Romana space next to Bludso’s, with design elements pulled from back east (think New York City subway car details and bodega vibes). Reps for the restaurant say the first day of service will be Saturday, June 12, with dinner hours only at the outset. Pizzas will range from cheese and pepperoni ($23 and $30 for a whole, or $4 to $5 per slice, respectively) to more unique options like oxtail, beef and broccoli, and jerk chicken — plus chopped cheese eggrolls to start.

It’s also worth mentioning that the upcoming Juicy Pizza will not only carry merch and clothing from Myricks, but it will have a members-only cannabis lounge run by Black-owned Presidential Cannabis in the back. Look for an opening this Saturday, and ongoing hours thereafter.
